Band Biography: Texas Legacy Band was founded by Pete Edwards in 2019. It was originally founded as a country opry band, but has since evolved into a mixture of country, classic rock, and blues genres of music. We love Jesus, Texas, and family. We perform all over Texas, but we're based mainly out of the Houston and surrounding areas. Over the last year, Texas Legacy Band has merged with Walker County Line Band. While there are 3 core band members, we can perform anything from solo, duo, trio, and even as a 4-5 piece band. The band can consist of keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, steel guitar, and the fiddle. Members: Pete Edwards - Born in Geneva, NY, but proudly came to Texas at the age of 6. He was raised listening to country and gospel music. At the age of 10, his mother married a minister/musician. That is when Pete began learning to play drums from his dad. As they would go to church over the next couple of years, Pete found himself wanting to play the guitar as he was drawn to the music. Pete's dad showed him a couple of chords on the guitar, and a few months later he was playing music in church. As a teen, Pete had the opportunity to play with several gospel and country music artists. Such as; The Hinson's, The Easter's, The Mckamey's, Pam Tillis, Daryle Singletary, and more. In 1998, Pete sat down at a piano, and knew that is where he belonged. He began performing piano covers at different churches and venues. In 2019, Pete met George Dooley and Bruce Salle at an open mic in New Caney, TX at a place called Roger Manns Jamboree. There was an instant connection between the 3 musicians, and that is when the Texas Legacy Band was formed. Since then, the band has gotten to perform with up and coming artists Peyton Howie and "The Voice" contestant Mary Sarah. Pete thanks God every day that he was blessed with his talent, and that he is able to entertain others by doing what he loves. George Dooley - Born in Noodle, TX and raised in Abiline, TX. George was raised in a musical family. His mother and sisters all played piano and sang in church. So George had an early exposure to gospel music. George started as 1st chair drummer in concert and marching band while in school. He received his first set of drums from his aunt because his parents were unable to afford them at the time. Later with a couple of friends from school, George started his first band called Indian Summer, which later became the Young Legends. They were able to perform on a local TV station for a "Jerry Lewis" telethon, and that is when they started playing other gigs. In 1972, at the age of 16, his dad signed him up for the navy. While in the Navy, he picked up playing the guitar, banjo, and harmonica, and that is when he realized that he was muscially inclined. George has several original songs that he has written. In 1998, 3 of those songs were published in the Library of Congress. Many years would pass by playing venues and churches trying to make a name for himself. He has a song that Bryan Thomas has cut for him called "Laugh while the laughing is easy". George says if anyone can turn this song into a great one, it would be Bryan. George now performs with Texas Legacy Band and Walker County Line. Bruce Salle - Born in Kansas, but raised in Houston, TX, Bruce taught himself to play bass guitar in school with his friends. Bruce is an amazing sculpter, painter, musician, and songwriter. Texas Legacy Band occasionally performs Bruce's songs. Bruce has won several awards with the most recent being, "The CMA of Texas 2024 Artisan Award." According to Pete and George, Bruce is the high energy member of the band. You will see him dancing around stage singing and putting on a great show for the crowd. If you would like to see Bruce's artwork, please follow him on facebook "Bruce Salle"
